Quick Update

So for this week I will be working on the GHOST RIG Guy. Justin is completing the actual GHOST RIG that we came up with. The GHOST RIG Guy is an idea I pitched on Thursday. For anyone that may have missed it:

GHOST RIG Guy (GRG): The GRG will tie directly to the GHOST RIG. Throughout the times people have played our game I noticed something. When they complete the first vine challenge they are pretty happy. They then see the next vine challenge with the spikes. They end up standing there for a moment debating on if they are good enough to make it. This type of situation is where the GRG will come into play. The player will press the GRG button (right now "G"), this will bring up a holographic Zalien. The player will now take control of this new Zalien and try to complete the task for practice. This will help the player when they encounter new challenges. It will give them a chance to try the task without any consequences. If the GRG falls into the spikes it just disappears, and the player takes control of the real Zalien again.

I believe we are going to use this throughout the entire game. This will let us bring in harder challenges. Using the GRG will drain Zaliens battery power. This battery power will be recharged as Zalien collects earth elements. This will give the player even more reason to collect them.

Adding this makes another thing the player needs to keep track of, the battery power. With this, lives, earth elements collected, and earth elements needed, I believe we are heading more and more toward an in game interface.

I will also be fixing the little problems that have come about ( collision glitches, being able to change animation after death, ect...).

Let me know what you think!

  1. Will it turn him slightly invisible for this or are we using the same animations just coloring them diffrently and switching to those when ever you use this mode?

  2. I really dig this! It makes sense and fits very well with everything we've been striving for as a team (not the A Team).

  3. This sounds great and I think it will solve the problem with people being hesitate near the spikes.

What if the player makes it through a section with the GRG and gets pissed because now that they have to return to the actual character and do it again?
