I thin kthe black border without the dinos in version 4 catches my eye the most
ReplyDeleteYeah I would have to say that I like the forth one better. Its the black border anything that is light on a black background comes more because of the absence of color. And not having the dinos on there is kind of better. But you are still are not following the rule of thirds. But also I don't see anything in the middle of the screen so you might be following it.

ReplyDeleteI do like the 4th one because of the black border. However, many of them still don't seem like our game. The colors are right but they just don't seem to match. This is like anything else in the game, it should match. We have this thing going with the spaceship console and the holographic arm. Those are used in most everything in the game. The website should incorporate some of these things too.
Also before you get too far, remember you need to make a flowchart first. This will make sure the site flows together properly.
So yeah I agree with Tom I think it should go with the elements in the game like the arm and the ship console. So try that and see what you come up with. But But i do like the colors and I also think you should use the colors from the arm and the console. So try that and I will see you in a while.
ReplyDeleteThese aren't bad at all, these are actually pretty nice but they do not look like they fit the game or are for the game. I think what the team is trying to say is that the player is going to press a button, Play Now, and immediately start playing. Because of this the website has to connect to the game interface, we have to make sure there is no disconnect kind of like how we did with the Main Menu Interface and the In Game Interface.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree that the site should feel like our game we don't want to constantly recycle the same interface layouts so maybe instead of recycling the same ideas we take parts of each idea, such as the hologram and projector effects.
I like the black outlines in the fourth version, I love how Zalien is placed over the buttons pointing to the title. I think the colors are kind of bland because there is no one color that stands out. I'm pretty sure we can get away with a brighter green without crossing the line since there are bright greens in the game and our Mood board.
I see where you are coming from Malina and the only reason it doesn't seem to work is because it is not a regular website. It's a game website that a player is going to visit and must feel like they are already in the game without having ever pressed the "Play Now" button.
Quick question:
ReplyDeleteWhere does the "Play Now" button take you? Right now the website size you have is 800 x 600. That is also the size of our game. This means the player will press that button and the game will completely cover up the site. There will be no way for the player to browse the site after that without hitting the back button.
If you choose to open a new window then that takes the user out of our site. Which may also be a bad thing. Some players will not play because of there browsers pop up settings.
Tom you are right. So what do you recommend that they do to fix this problem. I think we should make it into a download game instead of playing it on the site. I just really think it would be better if you made it that way.
ReplyDeleteIf we make it a downloadable game that cuts into a big portion of our audience. This game was meant to be an online flash game from the beginning. There's a large portion of people out there that will not take the time to download the game.
ReplyDeleteAs for fixing it, the only way I can think of is to make the site a bigger size. However, this creates a couple more problems. Those are minor compared to the problem of having an online flash game that can't be played online.
