This is an example of the "classic" Main menu set up that known and loved by many players, a picture of a "scene" as the background would do a number of things including help explain to the player what's going on, and save on time and animation cost. This version is one of the two that may work out. The second version is similar except that the placement is slightly different in the sense that the menu choices are in the forefront and the background imagery is just garnish on the digital cake.
