Talking to "The Man"

Concerning budgeting for the game I am currently communicating with various professionals about their studios' projects and their past experiences with budgets. I feel that guess-timating averages for salaries from studios' with various specialties would not be an accurate enough basis for our budget. So by attempting to get ahold of companies that specialize in higher end Flash games I hope to get a more realistic basis for my estimations.

Currently I am setting up an appointment with Alex Ionescu, a member of eprize, to discuss his studios budgeting and how it is handled for which types of projects. Eprize focuses on flash games as promotions and marketing and boasts a star studded portfolio.

I have also been in contact with JRVisuals, which is a smaller flash company with 16 years of experience focusing on internet games, multimedia, and advertising that has worked with and provided games for the 4Kids organization. They offer flexible pricing based off of individual clients needs and desires. Creating game for anything between 5-50,000 dollars. While I have been given the general basis for game budgeting I am currently waiting on answers to a few more questions that I had for the company.

I have also been in contact with Left Brain Games and am awaitng an initial response to my email. The Studio, and some of it's games, specialize in marketing, advertising, education, distance learning, and entertainment.

I plan on turning my focus more to the interface design of the game now but will continue to keep in touch with and search for more companies and budget research opportunities.

  2. I realize that some of these people may not respond in time for our GL2 info packet. That's not a problem. If they end up responding on the last day of class, it will still be awesome.
